Fabric Christmas gift bag
I love things that can be reused over and over. I have a pile of gift bags that have been given to me by other people. Sometimes I had originally given them a gift in that very bag. While these are useful, I needed something a little different this time.
I was sending some cards in the mail, so I needed a bag that wasn’t bulky and wouldn’t get damaged. I had seen something like this online so I grabbed some Christmas fabric out of my stash and quickly sewed this gift bag.
The size is based on the pattern on the fabric. I cut it out with my pinking shears.
I sewed down the side and across the bottom with a 1/4” seam allowance, backtacking at the beginning and end.
I folded over the top and ironed it at 3/4“. I sewed around the whole thing and pick out some string to make it a drawstring bag.
I popped 3 stitches from the seam above where I sewed the folded over top.
Using a safety pin on one side, I pulled the string through the drawstring channel.
Finished product. I bet this comes around again, perhaps with a gift to me next year?
