Neck warmer/Neck wrap/scarfette?
November. Sweater weather. It is actually always sweater weather here in Colorado, but November is REALLY sweater weather. I love them one and all.
This inspired me to get out my box of old sweaters that can’t be worn anymore for various reasons. Holes, shrunk, too big, too small, stained, you get the idea.
Online I found several patterns for neck warmers, or neck wraps, and as I am going to call them scarfettes. Follow along as I make one.
The sweater I started with.
I cut the scarfette by following the cable pattern from the middle back of the sweater. That determined the size I am making.
An old flannel shirt for liner. So soft people, so soft.
I set the sweater on the flannel shirt and cut them to match.
Right sides together, I sewed around the edges leaving a hand sized hole in the middle. I used my industrial Pfaff walking foot for this whole project. A walking foot is nice for sweaters because they can stretch.
I turned the scarfette right side out by pulling it through the hole I left when sewing around the edge.
I topstitched around the edge, closing the hole on the way.
I added two snaps…
and glued buttons over the top.
Here are the three scarfettes I have made so far. I am having fun with this project!
My sister modeling for me. We couldn’t stop giggling. Isn’t she beautiful?
